The Annearundell County Free School Museum will join other Maryland historic sites during the 2023 celebration of the founding of the state in 1634. The Annearrundell County Free School was founded 89 years later as one of twelve one-room schoolhouses established by the colonial assembly in 1723.

Visitors will be greeted by a schoolmaster and schoolmarm in colonial dress. Learn how this structure served as a schoolhouse for 144 years and then as a residence. Experience how lessons were taught in the 1700’s and the 1800’s and interact with the many artifacts and materials on display that were used for learning and recreation. You will receive a Certificate of Participation.
